This is the second Easter Pattern in the Liturgical Year pattern series, coinciding with the Eastern date for the feast.

“Carolingian Cross” is knit in one piece from the center out, from an entrelac start to a knitted-on border. Short rows are employed to create part of the motif, and extensive written, charted, and photographic instructions are employed to walk you through the pattern. For more on this pattern, see the blog post about it: http://osbornfiber.com/2012/04/14/btd-carolingian/

To make a larger blanket for a child, use about 1200 yards of a worsted weight yarn and US8/5mm needles.
