Carousel Cowl
Soft stripes and swirled cables dance up this whimsical crocheted cowl.
Size:
Approximately 24in (60cm) around,
11in (28cm) tall
Hook:
I used a size G (4mm) hook
Gauge:
Approximately 19 stitches per 4in (10cm) (unblocked)
Notions:
• Tapestry needle
Yarn:
• Any fingering weight yarn will work for this project.
• You will need one full size skein, and one mini skein (or a sock set).
The sample I made used:
• Woolberry Fiber Co., Berry Sock Set (fingering weight, 2 ply, 480 yards per 100g skein with 20g mini, 80% superwash merino wool, 20% nylon), in the colorway “Nutcracker Ballet”
• 100g, 400 yards used
• MC: 85g, 340yards
• CC: 15g, 60 yards
Notes:
• The pattern is written in US crochet terminology.
• This cowl is worked in the round.
Skills Needed:
Perfect for intermediate crocheters, this pattern utilizes:
• working in the round
• front and back post double crochet
• half double crochet in the back bar
• simple crocheted cables using front post triple crochet
A photo tutorial is included for the cables.
