Carousel Sweater
This pullover is knit top-down, starting with a circular yoke, with stranded colourwork. Raglan shaping is used at the bottom of the yoke in larger sizes for better fit. The colours used in this sweater are as follows:
Colour A: carousel colour
Colour B: carousel top contrast colour
Colour C: main body and background colour
Colour D and E: horses (optional duplicate stitching for details)
For a simpler, silhouetted colour palette, consider using the same colour for A, D, and E, and another colour for B and C.
Gauge: 19 st x 30 rows = 4” x 4” (10 cm x 10 cm) on US 7 (4.5mm) needles
Yarn: Worsted or Aran weight (sample uses Drops Air in colours 08, 01, 36, and 26)
Sizing:
Size 0: 30” (76cm) bust
Size 2: 34” (86cm) bust
Size 4: 38” (96.5cm) bust
Size 6: 42” (107cm) bust
Size 8: 46” (117cm) bust
Yarn yardage for sizes 0 (2) 4 (6) 8:
Colour A: 100 yds/90 m for all sizes
Colour B: 22 (22) 26 (26) 26 yds / 20 (20) 24 (24) 24 m
Colour C: 900 (1020) 1050 (1150) 1300 yds / 800 (940) 1000 (1050) 1200 m
Colour D/E (double if using the same colour): 30 yds / 25 m for all sizes
Duplicate stitch: approx. 1.5 yd/1.3m per horse
The sample is a size 2, which used approx. 6 balls of Drops Air for Colour C and less than 1 ball for all other colours. It is highly recommended to use the same yarn in several colours for this sweater as different yarns may expand differently after blocking.
