The Carradale Socks are my take on the traditional Scottish Argyle pattern, which consists of overlapping diamonds, commonly used on socks and particularly associated with golf clothing.

The pattern includes instructions for three different options. Style A has colourwork around the cuff only. Style B has all-over colourwork, which can be worked with only one CC or multiple CCs, ideal for using up leftover sock yarn.

Sizes:
1 (2) 3

Finished circumference:
17 (20) 23cm / 7 (8) 9 in
This sock is designed to have approx 1-2.5cm/ ½ - 1in negative ease. To work out which size you should knit, measure your foot around the ball (the widest part just after your toes) and apply approx 2cm negative ease. E.g. your foot measures 22cm around the ball, 22 - 2 = 20, you should knit a size 2.

Needles:
2.25mm/US 1 and 2.5mm/US 1.5 circular needle with at least 80cm/32in cable using the magic loop method OR DPNs OR 25cm/10in cable depending on your preference.
(please note - the pattern is written with magic loop in mind but can be easily adapted to use other methods)

Gauge:
34 sts x 34 rows = 10 x 10cm / 4 x 4in (in colourwork on larger needles)
34 sts x 50 rows = 10 x 10cm / 4 x 4in (in plain colour on smaller needles)

Materials:
MC: 100g of 4ply sock yarn, such as Filcolana Arwetta, West Yorkshire Spinners Signature 4ply, Drops Fabel.
CC: approx 8g sock yarn for Style A, approx 32-40g for Style B.
