Carthage is a boxy sweater with tapered sleeves that balance the oversized silhouette.
The simple shape serves as canvas for a rich cable and lace pattern that evolves from bold shapes to a simple overall lace motif.

CONSTRUCTION

Carthage is knit seamlessly in the round from the bottom up, then front and back are worked flat separately. Shoulder and neck shaping are done by binding off stitches. Once back and front are complete, they are assembled by sewing the shoulders. Neckband is worked next. Sleeves are picked up from the armholes. Their top is shaped with short rows to match the slope of the shoulders.

SIZES

Sizes 1 (2, 3, 4, 5) (6, 7, 8, 9)

To fit bust circumference
80 (90, 100, 110, 120) (130, 140, 150, 160) cm / 32 (36, 40, 44, 48) (52, 56, 60, 64)’’

Finished body circumference
130 (140, 150, 150, 160) (170, 170, 180, 190) cm / 52 (56, 60, 60, 64) (68, 68, 72, 76)’’

Recommended ease
This sweater has a lot of positive ease, that ranges from 50 cm / 20” to 30 cm / 12”, decreasing as the sizes go up.

I would recommend you pick the size corresponding to your bust measurement. For example, if you have a 100 cm /40” bust size, choose size 3. The finished sweater will have a circumference of 150 cm / 60” with 50 cm / 20” of positive ease.
Sample shown in size 1 with 50 cm / 20” positive ease.
