These mittens exude an old-fashion cosiness. Maybe it’s because of the strand of mohair that runs throughout giving them a blurry aura. Maybe it’s because of the two colours that are blended together, bumping up against each other in a uniformly haphazard way that makes these mittens look extra hand-made. Whatever it is these are some comfy mitts. They have an arched gusset - a little used mitten construction that fits the hand…well…like a glove! We love how this structure of the gusset is distinguished with the change between stocking stitch and reverse stocking stitch! The back of the mitten has a subtle embellishment. The three verticals are made with the so-called “embossed cord stitch”. We made this little adornment distinct by separating our two strands and holding the mohair in the back as a float while we knit the “cords”. You can try this too, or knit your mittens double stranded throughout. Have fun choosing your two colours. We recommend some contrast here to keep things interesting.
