You can make this any size you like, just keep doing reps until you are happy.

I did originally make it with Caron Cakes - 2x cakes makes a baby blanket, and 4x cakes make an adult size throw rug.

The design lends itself nicely to any yarn and hook. I would suggest a thicker yarn - at least DK (8ply) though, as it would work up faster and display to technical stitches nicer. I would also recommend using a hook a size or two larger than that recommended by the yarn you choose.

Edit 12/6/18 - thank you so much to everyone who has downloaded and/or given me feedback. I have been made aware of a couple of issues with the pattern. Row 9 in particular had an error where it listed sc in the next 8. Please ignore this if you have the original pattern. You will need this instruction for row 15.

Otherwise please find the pattern is now an edited version containing the correct stitches.
