I made a Teaser Trailer for this pattern, where I talk about construction, techniques, yarn choice, sizing, and modifications. Check it out!

Casagrande is a combination of a few of my favorite pattern details. It is an elegant “dressing up” sweater that requires only a little extra effort to make it special. The box pleat, lace sleeves and keyhole in the back neck make this sweater truly a statement piece, and these techniques are all easier than they look! The pattern has plenty of tutorial links and photos to guide you along.

This sweater is named after the Casagrande soil test I had to do in my engineering labs. In this test, soil is pressed into a mold and a deep channel is carved down the middle. I transferred the imagery of the flat sample with the striking groove down the center into the lace panel in the sleeves.

The sweater can be worn with either a ribbon tie or a button at the top of the keyhole. Instructions for both options are included in the pattern.
