I had wanted to make this pillow cover for some time. Having sat behind a lady wearing a sweater with a similar pattern, I thought it would translate beautifully into a pillow cover. When it came to creating it however, the simple effect proved much harder to reproduce. In fact I started twice and twice pulled out the work I’d done before enlisting the help of my Mum and Sister (both great knitters!) to modify the design. I love the result, and especially the fact this was a family collaboration!

The 16”/40cm square cushion cover uses a repeating pattern of a simple rope cables. I knit it using a medium/aran/worsted/#4 pure wool yarn. The envelope closure allows for easy removal to change your décor or for washing and I chose coconut buttons to add another element of visual interest.

If you are familiar with using a cable needle you should have no trouble with this pattern which is written line by line, not as a chart.
