The #CastAwaySocks are worked toe-up in the round using basic knitting techniques.
The toe is made using Judy’s magic cast-on method, the heel is shaped using a forethought heel and the cuff has a 1:1 ribbing.

MATERIALS
Needles: 3.5mm and 3mm double pointed knitting needles Or 3.5mm and 3mm circular needles (magic loop)
Gauge: 24 stitches X 32 rows = 10X10 cm
Yarn: 50 g/150 mm: any DK/fingering weight scrap yarn

HOW TO USE YOUR SCRAPS EFFICIENTLY
In the pattern there are two tables with an estimated amount of yarn (grams and meters) you might need to knit the Cast Away Socks.

SIZING
SIZE, YOUR FOOT CIRCUMFERENCE, FINAL SOCK CIRCUMFERENCE
SIZE 1, 16 cm, 12 cm
(SIZE 2), 18 cm, 14 cm
SIZE 3, 20 cm, 16 cm
(SIZE 4), 22 cm, 18 cm
SIZE 5, 24 cm, 20 cm
(SIZE 6), 26 cm, 22 cm
SIZE 7, 28 cm, 24 cm
(SIZE 8), 30 cm, 26 cm

Note on sizing: the socks have a negative ease of 4cm, to prevent them falling off your calf/ankle. If in doubt, compare the final sock circumference with a cozy sock you own.
The length is variable, and can be changed in every part of the pattern where the ^ symbol is found.
If you cannot measure the receiver’s foot, in the pattern there are the standard circumferences based on shoe size.
