Casual Friday is a striped cardigan with strategically placed seed stitch panels that break up the stripes and help to create a visually slimming effect. Cardigan is worked seamlessly from top to bottom.

Construction
The cardigan begins with two rectangular shoulder straps (saddles) knitted from the neck opening to the shoulder edge. Saddle stitches are put on holders and stitches are then picked up along the sides of the saddles, with stitches provisionally cast on for the back in between the saddles. Back is worked flat to the armholes. Armholes are shaped with increases. Back stitches are then put on holder and stitches are picked up from the other sides of the saddles to work both halves of the front to the armholes. After the armholes, the back stitches and front stitches are joined together with extra stitches cast on for the underarms. The cardigan’s body is then knitted back and forth to the hem with some waist shaping. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up gradually around armhole openings, including the saddle stitches, to shape the caps. The sleeves are then knitted flat with the decreases along the way, until the hem and sewn along the arm length afterwords. Finally, stitches are picked up around the neck opening for the button band.
