Materials:
Yarn + Hook: Small volume per coaster of almost any yarn and matching hook. Tip for beginner: Note that you may end up with a smaller or larger coaster depending on the yarn and hook you used.
Scissors
Stitch markers
Yarn/darning needle
Waterproofing spray (optional)
Fabric stiffener (optional)

My examples: Wool, 8 ply (DK) 11 WPI, scrap yarn, total of 10g/16m per coaster, using hook 3.0mm (D)
