Welcome to Hasty Tortoise Crochet, where my yarn obsession meets my love for pets! Follow this pattern to make a cocoon bed for cats that love to feel tucked-in, safe and warm, without being completely hidden.

There’s something about this yarn that cats adore! I can barely set a finished bed down before there’s a cat in it (although, maybe that says more about the number of cats in my house than about the beds themselves.) But, I assure you that these beds are biscuit tested and approved by many finicky felines! This cocoon bed is constructed first in the round to form a flat base, then in rows across one half of the top to form a cozy little cocoon or pocket for your cat to snuggle into without feeling too constricted or hidden. This bed design is the perfect in-between from a traditional flat bed to a cozy cave bed.

ABOUT THIS PATTERN
I designed this new cocoon-shaped bed especially for one of my big tabby cats that loves to tuck himself in amongst my throw pillows or into the crumpled covers of an unmade bed. He burrows in just right and stretches out under the covers or pillows, then sticks his head out because he doesn’t like to feel completely covered. In this new cocoon bed, he always feels tucked in just right; I bet your cat will love it too! The Bernat Blanket Big yarn is so soft and cozy that cats love it; this design is made with 2 skeins and will fit most cats!
