Catbird Cardigan
The perfect oversized, size inclusive cardigan for when you want the feeling of being wrapped up in a blanket all day but need your arms free to keep knitting! This v-neck cardigan features a half fisherman’s rib stitch pattern with 1x1 rib details on the cuff, hem, and button band. The cardigan has a drop shoulder construction and the stitch pattern provides a lot of drape for a very dramatic feeling shoulder. To help ensure you get the perfect fit, the instructions are written with a “mix & match” style for the body and sleeves. Feel free to knit the body a size 2, but the sleeves a size 4 to get a more fitted body and a looser sleeve.
This pattern is knit top down and seamlessly. The body and hem are knit first, then the sleeves, and finally the button band is added last. The pattern is written for 7 buttons in a 3/4 inch size. For both the blue and green samples, a strand of fingering weight yarn and a strand of lace weight mohair were held double. If you only want to use one strand of yarn, I recommend a DK weight yarn.

Gauge
Using US size 4/3.5mm needles, 21 stitches and 40 rows = 4 inches/10 cm in the half fisherman’s rib stitch pattern. Remember, the half fisherman’s rib is knit into the stitch below for some rows, so be careful when measuring your gauge to not miscount the rows!
Yarn Estimates
The pattern was designed using Knitting for Olive Merino and Soft Silk Mohair held together. The estimates are based on the pattern as written. If you have a longer torso or arms and need more length, you will likely need more yarn. This stitch pattern is very squishy and uses quite a bit of yarn.
