Catch Me If You Can is worked from the cuff down, and uses 2 stitch patterns to reverse the direction of the arrows around the leg and down the instep. Don’t want mis-matched socks? Pick your direction of choice and knit 2 of the same sock!

Sizes: S (M, L)/8.5” (9.5”, 10.5”) leg circumference, blocked and unstretched. For a tighter gauge or smaller sock, you might want to go down a needle size or use a less stretchy yarn. As written, leg measures approximately 7” from cuff to beginning of heel flap. You can adjust this by working more or fewer pattern repeats (which will affect your yardage).

Gauge: 32 sts and 40 rows=4” in Stockinette Stitch, knit in the round and blocked. You can always adjust the needle size to make your preferred gauge. Note that any difference in gauge will affect your yardage; please plan accordingly.

Materials: US size 2 (2.75mm needle), or needle size of your choice to make your preferred gauge, stitch markers, sewing needle for weaving in ends. Pattern is needle-agnostic: you can knit it on DPNs, 2 circs, a large circ for Magic Loop, a 9” circ, or any combination of the above.

Suggested yarn: Expression Fiber Arts Resilient Superwash Merino Sock (400 yds/366 m). Sample shown in color Pistachio. Otherwise, 350-400 yards of fingering weight yarn in wool or a wool/nylon blend will work. I strongly recommend a solid or tonal color to show off the texture pattern. You’re free to use whatever color you like, but please note that the texture may get lost in a variegated yarn.
