Mosaic color work is stripes with a design added in, you only use one color for each row. Mosaic often forms angular shapes; I love the undulation of these waves for mosaic color work and a different look.

Both coasters use 2 colors of yarn: the larger coaster is 5” & made with Aran weight Lily Sugar’n Cream Stripes (the yarn changed from cream to green at the top so it only looks like I added a 3rd color), the smaller one is 4” & made with DK weight yarn -Cascade Anchor Bay. These coasters are a great way to learn a new technique & are easy enough you will want to make them for everyone on your list!
