This is a crochet PATTERN ONLY (not a finished product) for a blanket using the Overlay Mosaic technique, which uses two basic crochet stitches to create a thick fabric featuring a picture or intricate design.

The blanket is worked with the right side facing at all times. For right-handed crocheters, each row is started on the right and worked to the left, then finished off at the end. For left-handed crocheters, each row is started on the left and worked to the right, then finished off at the end. There are no color changes within the body of the blanket.

This pattern is beginner friendly, as it explains how to do mosaic (even if you’ve never done it before). It includes a chart and instructions for reading the chart, as well as written instructions for right and left-handed crocheters. Mosaic crochet can look intricate and complicated, but is made up of only single crochet & double crochet!

This pattern uses 2 colors of yarn. This blanket can be made in any weight yarn, but a different weight will result in a different size in the end. The pattern is 165 stitches x 207 rows. If made with worsted weight yarn, the finished blanket should measure about 45” wide x 60” tall, not counting the fringe or border.

Needed for this pattern:
Background color - 1800 yards
Accent/design color - 950 yards
Appropriate size crochet hook (I recommend sizing down .5mm from the size that the yarn recommends)
