Catelyn Stark is the name I’ve borrowed from Game of Thrones. I’ve been a superfan of that show ever since it started. If you have not watched the show, here is some background information about the character I’ve named this fingerless mittens after: Catelyn Stark is a fictional character in the ‘A Song of Ice and Fire’ series of fantasy novels by American author George R. R. Martin, and its television adaptation Game of Thrones.

Any DK weight yarn can be used: Navy mitts -Stylecraft Special DK 100% acrylic, 50g, 165 yards (150 meters) in M/L size and less for the S/M size.

Finished Measurements: roughly about 9 inches in length – M/L size (as shown in the picture but can be made longer or shorter if required – Please adjust yarn requirements).

This pattern is designed to have the basket weave pattern on the top of the hands and the 1x1 rib on the bottom (palms).

The ‘afterthought’ method was used for the thumb placement. Please see the many free YouTube video’s on this method if you are unsure of this method.
