☀️ The cutest little caterpillar in the nursery

These knit baby overalls are a free pattern on my blog, striped in a caterpillar of greens with a charcoal base. Sized for 0 to 3 months, they’re a sweet baby shower gift that gets plenty of “awws.”

They’re worked in the round from the bottom up, then flat for the bib. Each leg is knit separately, then the legs join to work the body, and the front and back bibs are finished with shoulder straps on the back.

✨ What makes it work

• Seamless legs. Each leg is worked in the round, then joined for the body.
• Separate bibs. Front and back bibs are worked independently.
• Button straps. Shoulder straps attach on the back bib and button closed.
• Caterpillar stripes. Three shades of green over charcoal.

✂️ What you’ll need

• Yarn: Colorwheel, Loops & Threads (aran), about 105 yds. Colors shown: A Charcoal (2 skeins), B Green, C Mid-green, D Lime
• Needles: US 8 (5.0mm) circular needles or DPNs
• Tools: Removable Stitch Marker · Stitch holder or scrap yarn · Yarn Needle · Scissors
• To finish like the sample: ¾“ buttons (2)

• Size: 0 to 3 months
• Total length with fastened straps: 11”
• Top of bib to crotch: 8”
• Width of bib: 4”
• Width of midsection: 7”
