Cavell Lake is a glacially fed kettle lake in Jasper National Park, Alberta. Kettle lakes form where a depression created by a glacier pressing into the earth fills with the meltwater when the glacier retreats. Cavell Lake’s opaque blue-green colour comes from rock flour – powdered rock ground down by the weight of a glacier flowing and receding over the bedrock. The serene blue colour of Cavell Lake is the inspiration for this mohair and acrylic lace cowl.
