A color work yoke that is worked in the round in two yarns in the entrelac stitch, a fitted bodice with textured cable work, and a flared skirt give this fine-gauge sweater dress classic style and a touch of pizzazz. Perfect for singing, fiddling, dancing, twirling, or just sitting cozy.

Top-down, in the round, entrelac, cables—an adventure to knit —this dress is exquisite. This is not a beginner project, but carefully worked out details, charts and written instructions for the cable work, and photo instructions guide you through this challenging project which will push your knitting limits.

The dress is worked in the round combining color-changing yarn alternating with solid cream-color yarn in the entrelac yoke. Knitting in the round with entrelac gives a perfectly seamless, beautiful finished project with no hints of transitions at the beginning of rounds whatsoever. Also, there are no loose loops of yarn for fingers to get caught in—continuous knitting all around. And no yarns to carry—this method is wonderful!

The loosely spun yarn knits up nicely in the entrelac stitch and looks so lovely with cables and twisted stitches as used in the bodice.

The dress is worked top-down. You can try the dress on as you work to customize the fit for length of sleeves, bodice and skirt.
