I needed a designated spot for my cellphone in the house. This pad is simply a rectangle of garter stitch. The first stitch of every row is slipped to make a tidy edge.
I used a knitting needle 2 sizes smaller than recommended to make a “cushier” pad (more protection for the phone). This quick and easy project is a great way to use up leftover yarn, especially variegated, brightly colored and/or shiny yarns - all the better to locate your phone! Feel free to combine 2 or more yarns for a thicker phone pad.
At 20 stitches, my cellphone pad is 4.25 inches wide and 7 inches long. Use any gauge and make your pad as wide and long as you need. This pad can also protect other items and wood surfaces.

Skills needed: cast on, slip, knit and bind off in knit stitch.

Gauge is not important in this pattern. Any block-able yarn/thread will work. Make a swatch to check gauge and appearance.

32 yards of Mary Maxim’s Marvelous Chunky yarn will make 1 cellphone pad at gauge.
