These fingerless mittens were partially inspired by my love of cables and the fact that I grew up in Nova Scotia. There is a lot of Celtic influence in Cape Breton, and you can’t help but have it blend into the rest of the province. I also was part of a Highland Dance group as a child, and loved everything to do with cables and tartans. The cable is only on the back of the hand to make sure that it doesn’t impact the wear of these mittens. I like to have mittens with flat palms to allow me to wear them when knitting or when on the computer.

When you pick your size, be generous. The cables will cause the hand to be tighter, so if you are even close to a size, consider going up a size to give enough room. If you like to have mittens that are snug, then you could be okay with the size you are close to. There is very little ease on these to stretch much beyond the sizes listed.
