Companion scarf to the popular Celtic Roots Headband, the Celtic Roots Scarf continues with the Saxon Braid motif, this time in a half-drop pattern which produces a tangle of cables on a generously sized and warm scarf!

This pattern has been professionally tech edited and test knit to reduce the potential for error.

NOTE: This pattern is for the scarf ONLY, the pattern for the headband pictured in the last two photos can be purchased separately here.

CONSTRUCTION

The scarf is cast on and then worked flat. It is then finished with a matching bind-off. I HIGHLY recommend that you use the suggested cast-on and bind-off methods. The extra effort is WORTH IT for the professional finish that it gives the scarf.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  • Chinese Waitress cast-on and Chinese Waitress bind-off
  • Knit and purl stitches
  • Cable stitches - 2/1LPC, 2/2LC, 2/2LPC, 2/1RPC, 2/2RC, 2/2RPC

INSTRUCTIONS

The pattern is fully charted, but also includes complete written directions so the ability to read a chart is not necessary to work this pattern.

YARN NOTES

Avoid highly variegated and/or excessively fuzzy yarn as it will obscure the cable pattern.

ADDITIONAL NOTIONS

You will also need:
Tapestry/blunt yarn needle
T-pins (for blocking)
