The Ceridwen Gloves are a versatile knitwear accessory knit in 2x2 rib stitch. Named after the Celtic goddess of rebirth, transition, and inspiration, these fingerless gloves are perfect for the ever changing seasons. Knit in the round from the bottom up, the thumb gusset is formed through steady increases. The thumb is worked prior to the fingers. Stitches for the fingers are picked up at the cast on edge of the thumb, ensuring a seamless design with no holes at their point of separation. Modification options for mittens and a faux cable design are provided.

The model is wearing a size 2, with a palm circumference of 17.5 cm 7 inches and a mid forearm circumference of 17 cm 6½ inches.

Size Guide
The Ceridwen Gloves are designed with 0 - 2 cm 0 - ½ inches negative ease. Negative ease refers to the final garment measurements being smaller than your initial measurements. If you are in between sizes or sizes that overlap, choose a smaller size, as the 2x2 rib stitch stretches to fit the shape of your hand.

Sizes 1 (2) 3 (4) 5 are based on a palm circumference of 13 - 15.5 (17 - 19) 20 - 21 (21.5 - 22.5) 23 - 25 cm 5 - 6 (6½ - 7½) 7½ - 8 (8½ - 9) 9 - 10) inches, and a mid forearm circumference of 14 - 16 (15.5 - 17.5) 17 - 19 (18.5 - 20.5) 20 - 22 cm 5½ - 6½ (6 - 7) 7 - 7½ (7 - 8) 8 - 9 inches.

To choose your size:

  1. Measure your palm circumference at its widest width above your thumb. To measure palm size, wrap a tape measure all the way around your palm just below your fingers. Do not include your thumb in the measurement.
  2. Measure your mid forearm circumference where you’d like the gloves to begin.
  3. Compare your measurements with the final measurements of the available sizes. Choose a size that is 0 - 2 cm 0 - ½ inches less than your measurements. If you are in between sizes, or sizes that overlap, choose the smaller size for a tighter fit, or larger size for a looser fit.

Example: If your palm circumference measures 20 cm 8 inches, and your mid forearm circumference measures 18 cm 7 inches, knit size 3.
