Wanting to protect my hardwood floors from scratches I struggled with store bought adhesive felt pads. They were constantly falling off. With necessity being the mother of invention, I decided to knit some chair leg covers. Having plenty of leftover sock yarn at my disposal, I cast on and these whimsical chair leg socks were the result. They stay on, protect my floors and also quiet the movement of the chairs on the floor.

Make them colorful, decorative, or camouflaged. Make them seasonal, or make them in the colors of your favorite sports team. Make them shorter, longer or customize them to the size of your furniture. Make them all at once or knit 1 or two at a time when you haven’t much time to knit but want to be productive. Play around and have fun!

Gauge is not crucial but a tighter gauge will wear better over time, just as human socks do.
Note: differences in gauge may affect size, wear and yardage needed.
