This is a roomy, comfortable, warm, cozy sweater. I made this one for my husband who wears it just about every day. It’s perfect for lazy, casual days!

This sweater is similar to my Mint Lace Hoodie Tunic, although this one has several differences:

  1. Oversized “casual” fit
  2. Hung hems (versus ribbing) on the sweater and sleeves
  3. Fits a mens medium to large or a ladies extra large to 1X. (on a woman it will be a tunic length).

The pattern is lengthy because I explain every step. It is also in a larger font for those who have trouble with smaller text.

I made this one in Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn Print in the Chambray Colorway. I have made others with the Hobby Lobby stonewash and solid yarns, and they are just as lovely. The key is to use an aran weight yarn that produces a similar gauge. Some of the Hobby Lobby Yarns have slight differences in gauge (stonewash versus print versus solids), but the sweater has worked out just fine in all of these yarns without noticeable difference in size.

This was made on a Brother KH-260 (9mm Chunky Gauge) machine. The pattern is written as generically as possible so that it can be made with other 9mm machines as long as you know the carriage settings for your specific machine.

The sweater itself is easy but there are a lot of pieces to knit (front, back, two sleeves, pocket, and hood). It usually takes me a couple days to complete this sweater, but mostly because I am fitting in time between chores and work. If you sat down and knit this in one session, I have no doubt you could complete it in one day! While there are a lot of parts to this sweater, it is well worth the effort! You will be rewarded with such comfort in the end!

It looks huge and sloppy on my mannequin, but it is far too large for her. She is a tiny, skinny, little thing. This one was made for my husband who is much larger than her meager “model” body.

This pattern has not yet been tested by anyone but me, but I have made several of these sweaters, so I am confident that it is correct. However, sometimes we tend to “read our own minds” and things make sense to us but nobody else. If you find errors in the pattern or if you run into issues, please contact me so I can make revisions for future knitters. I am happy to help if you run into any issues while knitting this, or any of my patterns.

As with all of my patterns, I provide them free of charge to encourage creativity and sharing among the knitting community. I ask only 2 simple things in return:

Please pay it forward by doing something extra nice for your favorite animal today.

If you knit this, please post your project to Ravelry, and link back to this pattern, so others can also enjoy seeing your work and help celebrate your success!
