For the celebration of the end of her chancellorship, the German chancellor Angela Merkel asked for the song “Für mich soll’s rote Rosen regnen” (Red roses shall rain down for me) – a clear message that women are allowed to get what they want! A very good friend of ours has had to navigate quite a few troubles in life and has always come out at the top. That is why I want to gift her a jumper that shows: Only the best for me!
Since she is a Francophile, I have knitted a phrase on the front asking for a glass of champagne – in a golden yellow just like the fine drink and on a light coloured background. I chose to use a very soft and flattering cotton and bamboo mix which falls nicely. As a little something extra, I have added a sequins yarn into the writing – because we are worth it! As another little detail, I decided not to knit the cuffs in the usual knit-purl-pattern. Instead, I made them striped and sewed them on offset. This makes up thin strips that create the illusion of diagonal stripes. Very fitting for the premium look of this jumper. So: Santé!

Kanzlerin Angela Merkel wünschte sich zum Abschied aus dem Amt das Lied „Für mich soll´s rote Rosen regnen“ – ein klares Bekenntnis dazu, dass Frauen sagen dürfen: Ich will! Eine sehr gute Freundin von uns hat in ihrem Leben so manche Klippe umschifft und viele Probleme gemeistert. Daher möchte ich ihr einen Pullover schenken, der genauso klarstellt: Für mich nur das Beste!
Da sie frankophil ist, findet sich auf dem Vorderteil der Wunsch nach einem Glas Champagne - goldgelb wie das edle Getränk auf hellem Grund. Der Pulli ist mit einem sehr weichen und schmeichelnden Baumwoll-Bambus-Mischgarn gearbeitet und fällt wunderbar. Als kleines Extra läuft beim gelben Garn im Schriftzug ein Pailletten-Faden mit, denn Luxus muss sein!
Als schönes Detail habe ich zudem alle Bündchen statt im üblichen Rechts-Links-Muster gestreift gearbeitet und versetzt festgenäht. So entstehen schmale Bänder, die schräggestreift wirken. Das passt sehr schön zum edlen Look dieses Pullovers. Also: Santé!
