Inspired by a winter trip to Catalina Island and a lack of warm accessories, the Channel Islands Cap was originally designed out of desperation and necessity (who knew that the Channel Islands could be so terribly cold in December?!).

Close fitting without being overly snug, the hat is constructed from the top down, and features a novel increase technique that forms an asterisk on the crown. The cap is easily adapted to all sizes of head and any weight of yarn. The pattern also includes options for two types of crocheted brims as well as one easy knitted rib edging.
