This pattern includes 10 different stitch patterns and was designed as a first project for new knitters. Each of the first 8 panels is designed to introduce new knitters to the knit and purl stitches, while the last 2 panels introduce yarn overs and decreases.

Gauge is not super important for this pattern - use needles that give you the desired drape/stitch size or that are recommended on the ball band. This project is meant to be a starting point for new knitters.

Tips for new knitters: use a light coloured yarn for your first project! It makes the stitches easier to see.

Instructions are written out and include a small grid for each stitch pattern to help new knitters keep track of rows.

One ball of Bernat Premium allowed for 4 repeats of the stitch pattern, plus extra for a fringe. For a shorter or child-size scarf, do only 3 repeats of the pattern.

Stitch patterns are as follows:
Garter Stitch
Stockinette Stitch
Seed Stitch
Caterpillar Stitch
Chevron Seed Stitch
Basketweave
Diagonal Stockinette Stitch
Waffle Stitch
Bamboo Stitch (incorporates yarn overs and passing stitches over)
Diagonal Lace (incorporates yarn overs and k2tog)
