Inspired by the architectural beauty of the milk thistle plant, this is design combines a traditional lace pattern with interesting asymmetry for a modern interpretation of a lace stole. This generously-sized wrap is worked in one piece, end-to-end, without the need for center grafting.

The floral lace motifs are worked first and grow in size as work progresses. After about two-thirds of the total length are worked, the motifs transition seamlessly into a simple linear lace, with the final edge mirroring the first edge. The vertical sides are worked with yarn over edgings for easy blocking, because the blocking wires can be threaded through the yarn overs.

Easy to knit and easy to wear as a stole or a scarf, Chardon is a great one-skein project perfect for gift knitting.
