My search for the perfect weekend hat led me to design these slouchy chevron styles. Knit in a light DK weight, they have a ribbed band and feature the popular zig-zag pattern in a sophisticated way.

The pattern contains two variations of the Charlevoix Slouch. The first style, the Closed Chevron, uses a M1 increase, creating a solid stitch chevron design. The second style, the Open Chevron, uses a YO increase, creating lacy openings in the design. What a difference one stitch makes. Both are fun to knit and work up quickly. It’s a good thing, too, because while knitting the samples, both girls and guys begged me for the finished hats.

I designed them using Crazy Wool, Stonehedge Fibers wonderful, one-of-a-kind, long run, color changing wool. They spin each unique skein using various wool and llama fibers from the animals on their 157 year old farm located in northern Michigan.
