Dec 2009 Updated version includes larger cable pattern for adult-sized socks. Also now has working hyperlinks, and fixed an erratum in Round 1 of the written instructions for the cable pattern (the chart was correct).

This is a simple, utilitarian children’s sock. Other than the lattice cable, it is straightforward toe-up sock. Although it’s called a cable pattern, no cable needle is required--it’s just left and right twists.

While the pattern is written for children’s size 9, the size can be changed by using a yarn/needle combination that yields a different gauge and changing the length of the foot and leg as appropriate.

I would love to see pictures of these socks in jazzier yarn on a real person, and to learn if the cable pattern is of any practical use in keeping the socks from slumping.
