Checkered Bucket Hat
I went on the hunt for a bucket hat but could not find exactly what I wanted so here is my take on a crochet checkered bucket hat! I used a 4.0mm hook originally and the hat fit me perfect (I have a big head and lots of hair so I was excited it fit first try). I soon realized it was way too big for my handsome so I remade it in the 3.5mm hook and it fits him well along with some of the kiddos. You can use any two colors of worsted weight yarn, or ignore the color changes and try it as a solid color!
stitches used:
Double crochet
Shallow front post double crochet
Backpost double crochet
Crab stitch (reverse single crochet)
You can always adjust size by going up or down in yarn or hook size, after getting the hang of it! Play around with yarn types too! I made one with a Red Heart Super Saver and a chenille, though the chenille was floppy and light the Red Heart gave it stability.
