A pattern developed for fun, this hat can be made in three sizes: adult small/child, adult medium, and adult large. Using different size yarn will can add more sizes, ie. fingering weight will make a smaller hat, DK weight will make a larger hat.
Yarn: Fingering weight, Sport weight or a light DK

Needles:
Size 2 US, 16” circular for hat, 24” circular for cowl
Size 3 US, 16” circular for hat, 24” circular for cowl
Hat requires 16” for both sizes and either a second size 3 US or DPN for your favorite small circumference knitting. With the yarn overs, I find that using 2 circulars helps prevent dropping yarn overs as compared to DPN’s.

Gauge:
Single brioche 19 st/4” single brioche on size 2 needles, 20 st/4” double brioche pattern on size 3 needles.

This pattern utilizes one of Nancy Marchant’s double brioche stitch patterns from her book Tuck Stitches: Sophistication in Handknitting. For reference, it is number 24-Double Tuck Stitch.
