The Checkerspot Butterfly Socks feature a colorwork motif up the ankle modeled after the wings of the Baltimore checkerspot (Euphydryas phaeton). These socks are knit toe-up with a short-row heel and are not left/right footed, facilitating two-at-a-time knitting. The colorwork instructions are charted.
