Checkmate Unisex Scarf
Easy crochet pattern for a unisex scarf written in English, crocheted using three colours of yarn over a simple one-row repeat. Simple stitches, suitable for all skill levels including adventurous beginners. Choose your favourite three colours to make a cosy scarf for all the family. You’ll love how easy this scarf is to make - carrying the yarns up the side of the work as you go means there’s no ends to sew in.
This unisex crochet shawl pattern creates a soft woven texture which is the same on both sides. Both the men and women will love this classy winter scarf. Be as bold or as subtle in your colours as you like. I guarantee the end result will win lots of compliments.

I was inspired to write this unisex neckwarmer pattern following lots of requests for men’s scarves - one which is nice enough to borrow! This stitch works well because it lies flat and is quite graphic. A plain edging creates a clean finish. I chose these autumnal shades because they look so warm and inviting. You could try other combinations - blues and greys, creams and silvers, black and neons… the colours combos are unlimited.
The pattern is written in both USA and British UK crochet terms (two separate Pdfs) with clear descriptions of the stitches. I’ve also included a link to a video tutorial for the pattern and my crochet notes to ensure you can relax and crochet with confidence throughout.
You’ll receive a 2-page pattern Pdf (one in US crochet terms and one in British crochet terms) via email for instant download upon purchasing.
Happy Crocheting!
