Pattern Notes
-
Hat is knit in the round. After the ribbing, a line of purl stitches on each side creates a fold line in the stockinette to encourage the flatness of the frog face. A series of decreases on each side of the purls create the shape of cheeks. The top is bound off with 3-needle bind off.
-
The size is easily customizable; make it larger or smaller by adding or subtracting sets of 4 sts. If you are making the hat for a larger sized head, add some length to the stockinette section after the ribbing; a larger head can stretch the width, which will shorten the length of the hat.
-
If you don’t have felt on hand, you can use stiff white card stock and clear packing tape to make eyes. Use a Sharpie to draw on the pupil, then use packing tape on both sides of the eyes to provide waterproofing and extra structure. You can also use big black buttons as pupils.
