Chenille Fichu
“Here is a novelty that we would be grateful to bring to the attention of our readers. Woolen kerchiefs were very convenient, which is what made them popular. The chenille kerchief however, will provide the same services, without falling back into the realm of vulgarity.” ~ La Mode 1863
I went back and forth about sharing this particular shawl, because it was a frustrating design to pattern. It isn’t mathematical, it is free form. One must learn the stitch, and decrease where necessary to make it work. But, being the only piece I’ve seen made entirely in silk chenille, I thought presenting this fichu would be both educational and unique, and it feels luxurious. Wool just can’t compare!
