An unbuttoned and loosely draped jacket – a really useful garment to have in your wardrobe.
It’s a fun knit in an easy-to-learn chevron stitch, worked top down in one piece, so the only seaming is along the sleeves.

This is a stash-busting project – use up your leftovers.
Along with the main colour Aran weight yarn (which is just over half the total needed), doubled sock yarn, sock plus sport yarn, or thick DK/8ply can all be used in the contrast stripes.
The jacket can be made flared or not so flared to suit your taste.

The jacket yoke is knit flat in garter stitch stripes, the sleeves and main body of the jacket are then worked from the yoke, also on two needles in chevron stitch.
You will need extra long needles or a circular for the body, as there are a large number of stitches at the hem.

Aran thickness yarn (approx 95 m/ 104 yards per 50 gm ball) or similar equivalents for contrasts
