This is a pattern for a cute, quick, and easy starter pokemon-- Charmander.

He’s part of my collection of chibi pokemon designs.

Using the recommended yarn and hook he will be about 3 1/2 to 4 inches tall, and consistent in size with my other pokemon amigurumi.

You’ll need a relatively small amount (not more than 30g) of orange and light yellow yarns, some red yarn scraps, an (optional) hairbrush, a 4mm crochet hook, some stuffing, plastic eyes (10mm is good), and a yarn needle.

In order to follow this pattern you will need to know how to change colors neatly. You will also need to decide whether to change colors by tying and snipping your yarn each time, or by carrying the unused color in the back of the stitch. I’ve done it both ways and both worked fine.
