This is a pattern for a cute, quick, and easy Pokemon-- Torchic.

She’s part of my expanding collection of chibi Pokémon designs and my first of a new set of starter Pokémon from the Hoenn region.

Using the recommended yarn and hook she will be about 3 1/2 to 4 inches tall, and consistent in size with my other pokemon amigurumi.

You’ll need a relatively small amount (not more than 40g) of an Orange yarn, and smaller amounts of Yellow and Light Yellow yarn, a 4mm crochet hook, some stuffing, plastic eyes (10mm is good), and a yarn needle.

“What about the Johto starters?”- you might be wondering. Well, for the moment I’m sticking to Pokemon that conform to a fairly standard ‘head-body-limbs’ sort of arrangement, and some of the Johto starters are distinctly amorphous. Doable, but I’m saving them for another time. So for now it’s on to Hoenn. Torchic is totally adorable and probably the easiest of the three starters to craft. Her little feet are a bit fiddly, but quite easy once you get the hang of it. And I decided to sew that extra bit of orange onto the head feathers rather than mess around with color changes on something so small. As you can see from the photo, the rest of the Hoenn starters are on the way too!

I hope you enjoy!
