This friendly, perfectly sized bird companion will be happy to hang out and hold your keys, knitting notions, or one egg.

INTRODUCTION
The pouch has an inside and outside layer that are knit separately. You start with a provisional crochet cast on at the opening, working the outside of the body first. Chest and neck turn are shaped with short rows and decreases. The head is shaped with decreases.

Beak and crown are made with crochet (if you don’t want to use crochet, you can also use felt to cut out the details, and sew them on).

Then the stitches from the provisional cast on are picked up again, and the inside is worked separately. The drawstring hems are worked last by picking up stitches, knitting flat and then sewing them to the inside. The drawstring and legs are made using I-cords.

Yarn:
Lana Grossa Cotone (125m/50g), Schachenmayr Catania (125m/50g), or any other light weight (DK) yarn.

Main Color (Body outside): 50m/20g
Contrast Color (Hem, Drawstring and Body inside): 75m/30g
Scraps of red and yellow

Needles:
2.5mm (US 1.5) circular needles 80 cm long, OR a set of 2.5mm (US 1) double pointed needles
2.5mm crochet hook

Notions:
0.7mm safety eyes.
Scrap yarn for provisional cast-on, stitch markers, tape measure, tapestry needle, safety pin, scissors (Optional: a bead with a 4-5mm hole)
