This Chirpy Chicken Tea Cosy was made using a bag of Knitting Hut Magic Balls which are mini balls of various thicknesses and textures of yarn in a colour theme.

The pattern could also be used as a stashbuster if you have a good collection of odds and ends!

For our chicken you need to use two strands of yarn together and 7mm needles to create a chunky/bulky thickness.

The tea cosy is really easy to make as it is knitted as a rectangle and then the only shaping is over small amounts of stitches for the tail and head.

The 4mm needles are used for the comb.

you could also make this chook into a doorstop by knitting a base, stuffing and sewing together. Use a fabric bag filled with pearl barley or something similar to weight it.
