This pattern is available for free.

This pattern doubles up as a pompom hat and a beanie which is why I have called it a pompom beanie. It works equally well as either. The sizes given in this free pattern is for toddlers and children up to 7-9 years old, the variation between the two being in the length of the hat.

The pattern is a stocking stitch with a simple rib edging and it is a good hat for beginners to practice both changing colours and working on circular or double pointed needles. There are thorough instructions in the blog post as to size, gauge and how to work on circular needles - and how to make the hats on straight needles if so wished.

The hats can be made in other Aran yarns, but please check the exact yards/metres per 50 g. I like the Drops Nepal as the 35% alpaca content makes the hats soft and non-itchy.

The pattern for the adult hat will be out shortly.
