Child's Lacy Bluebell Jumper/Tunic
This very pretty jumper or tunic has a lacy pattern that looks intricate, but is actually quite easy once you have worked out the first row.
I have called it a bluebell jumper for the simple reason that when my granddaughter tried it on, with the little scallops at the bottom, she made me think of a little jumping bluebell. She certainly looks cute in it.
It can be worn either as a tunic over leggings or, as the child grows, it can become a lacy jumper. If you add a few more rows to the main body it would even make a lovely dress.
There are detailed instructions of how to make the cardigan, with photographs to help and a chart showing the pattern.
If you want to make sizes in between those given, then you could use a hook that is half a size up or down and the pattern would still work.
The cardigan could be made with any dk yarn. I made it with Stylecraft Special DK, which comes in many colours. I am sure it would also look nice in a variegated yarn. I haven’t tried it with cotton yarn but see no reason why that would not work either.
The pattern includes both UK and US terms. The UK terms come first and then the whole pattern is repeated with US terms, so please be aware if you print off the pattern that you should only print the pages you want so as not to waste your paper and ink.
