This chinchilla crochet pattern uses US crochet terminology. The example was made using Stylecraft Special DK and a 3.25mm hook. The yarn weight however is not important, just make sure you use a small enough hook for the stuffing not to show through the stitches. Made using materials suggested the finished chinchilla measures approximately 22.5cm from nose to tail tip. I also used 9mm safety eyes, a small amount of pink yarn for the nose, stuffing and embroidery thread for the whiskers. Invisible sewing thread, horse hair and fishing line are all possible alternatives for the whiskers. You will also need a wire brush to fluff up the tail. A yarn needle and stitch marker (or yarn scrap) are also essential. This pattern is advanced beginner level and requires no complicated stitches though you will need to know how to work in a continuous spiral, the difference between the front and back loops and how to increase and decrease.
