I have lots of friends who are trying to reduce the use of plastics and disposable cloths. I’ve made loads of these cloths now in cotton ‘string’ type yarn for washing dishes and in softer, brightly coloured cotton yarn as face cloths. The mini versions are useful as make up remover pads. Chinese waves pattern looks really intricate but is easy to achieve with just knit and slip stitches. It also gives a thick, soft texture for the cloths.

Choose someone’s favourite colours and add some lovely soap to make a really personal gift. I also print labels to make them look more professional and to make sure the recipients know how to keep the cloths clean (include relevant information based on the yarn you use)

I find the corner to corner versions of the washcloths keep their shape better, but if you are not comfortable with increasing and decreasing use the edge to edge version of the pattern instead.
