MATERIALS:

• Sport weight wool in at least 2 colors, 50 g each color
o Less than 50g of each color will be used for a pair of mittens
• US Size 2 / 2.75 mm circular knitting needle for Magic Loop knitting (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• US Size 3 / 3.25 mm circular knitting needle for Magic Loop knitting (or size needed to obtain gauge)
• 2 stitch markers to mark either side of thumb increases (optional)
• Scrap yarn

SIZES:
• CHILD SMALL: US SIZE 2 / 2.75 MM NEEDLE
o Palm Circumference: 5 ¼ inches
o Length from wrist to top: 5 inches
o Gauge: 7 sts wide x 9 rows tall per 1 square inch
• CHILD MEDIUM: US SIZE 3 / 3.25 MM NEEDLE
o Palm Circumference: 6 inches
o Length from wrist to top: 5 ½ inches
o Gauge: 8 sts wide x 10 rows tall per 1 square inch
• CHILD LARGE: US SIZE 3 / 3.25 MM NEEDLE
o Palm Circumference: 6 inches
o Length from wrist to top: 6 inches
o Gauge: 8 sts wide x 10 rows tall per 1 square inch
ABBREVIATIONS:

• KFB = Increase one st by knitting into the front and back of indicated stitch
• M1=increase one stitch (in color indicated by chart) by picking up the bar between last-worked and next stitch from front to back, then knit through the back loop
• L= Also known as M1L, pick up the bar between last-worked and next stitch from front to back, and make a new stitch by knitting through the back loop
• R= Also known as M1R, pick up the bar between last-worked and next stitch from back to front, and make a new stitch by knitting through the front loop
• sts = stitches
• SSK = slip 2 sts as if to knit, then knit them together
• K2tog = knit next 2 sts together
• The bold blue line symbolizes reserved stitches on scrap yarn (on charts)

NOTES:
• Child Large is knit the same way as Child Medium, with ½ inch length added where indicated on the charts,
• DPNs can be substituted if preferred; the pattern does reference Magic Loop knitting, but it is not required.
