The main idea behind this hat pattern is to give most of the creative control to the maker in terms of colors, sizes, and design options. As I was writing this pattern, I was reminded of the ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ books that I loved to read as a kid. This pattern works on the same concept that your choices along the way will affect your end result.

As you work through this pattern, you will be presented with multiple ‘choices’:

  1. Choose your size (Newborn, Baby, Child, or Adult)
  2. Choose your design option (there are 7)
  3. Choose your 2 colors (or just one for a solid hat)
  4. Choose your pom pom (add as many colors for this as you want, or no pom pom at all)

Included are written instructions for the brim of the hat and the decrease rows. There are charts to follow to complete the fair isle portions for the middle of the hat.
